RYAN ALAN WILSON & THE HEINZ ENDOWMENT TOO | WHEN THE MAN COMES TO COLLECT THE RENT

WHEN THE MAN COMES TO COLLECT THE RENT

They told me that life
wouldn't be easy
Yet no one told me it would
be this hard
Growing up in between
A rock
And the tail end of a broken
boulevard

A sandwich of emotions
Open
Drooling on the cutting room
floor
Sutured and silent from
bleeding
There was only one
But, I could still see two
doors

Held aloft the rising
Foam of a coffee spent
Like, who's gonna care
about me

When the man comes to
collect the rent
